Feed pelleting tests, wood biomass, agro biomass, bran, RDF/SRF

Professional Pelleting Testing Before You Invest

Purchasing a pellet mill or a complete pelleting line is a major investment. Before choosing the right machine, it is essential to determine how easily your raw material can be pelletized and which production parameters will ensure a stable and efficient process.

At Nawrocki Technologies (granulatory.com) we provide comprehensive pelleting tests for a wide range of materials, including:

  • compound feed and premixes,

  • forest biomass (wood chips, sawdust),

  • agro biomass (straw, hay, agricultural residues),

  • bran and other feed components,

  • alternative fuels RDF/SRF,

  • any non-standard materials requiring process verification.

Industrial Pelleting Test – Recommended for More Complex Raw Materials

For materials that require broader verification (e.g., RDF, fibrous biomass, low bulk density materials), we recommend an industrial-scale test.

Required quantity:

✔ minimum 5 big bags, (recommended a full 20’ container)

This volume makes it possible to:

  • test multiple dies with different parameters,

  • verify different roller configurations,

  • assess the impact of additives or conditioning,

  • evaluate long-term process stability.

COST: Industrial test costs are calculated individually depending on material type and testing scope.

Why Choose Nawrocki Technologies?

  • Over 50 years of experience in feeds and biomass pelleting technology.

  • In-house prototype and testing facilities.

  • Tailored production technology developed by industry experts.

  • Professional support in selecting pellet mills, dies, rollers, and complete pelleting lines.

Why Perform a Pelleting Test?

Pelleting tests allow to determine:

  • the ease or difficulty of pelletizing your material,

  • required moisture content and particle size,

  • the optimal die design (diameter, compression ratio, inlet angle) and roller configuration,

  • expected production efficiency,

  • the need for any binders or technological additives.

After the test, our specialists prepare a complete production technology specifically for your material.

Minimum Requirements for a Standard Laboratory Test

Required quantity of raw material:

✔ minimum 1 big bag (small laboratory test)

Moisture content:

✔ 10% – 12%

Particle size:

✔ 10–15 mm

Test fee:

✔ 1400,00 EUR net

The test is carried out using a standard 6 mm die. After completion, you receive a detailed report covering process parameters and test results.

Special Dies and Rollers – When Are They Needed?

Some materials—especially RDF/SRF, abrasive biomass, or highly fibrous agro residues—may require:

  • custom-made dies with specific compression or geometry,

  • non-standard rollers,

  • upgraded wear-resistant components.

In such cases, the testing cost will include the price of custom consumables, quoted individually.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

1. How much raw material do I need for a basic pelleting test?

A minimum of 1 big bag is required for a standard laboratory test. For industrial testing, at least 5 big bags are needed.

2. What moisture level is recommended for pelletizing?

Most materials should be delivered at 10–12% moisture. This level provides optimal conditions for initial testing and ensures reliable results.

3. Can Nawrocki test materials such as RDF, SRF or waste-derived biomass?

Yes. We specialize in testing challenging and unconventional materials, including RDF/SRF, sewage sludge, agro residues and low-density biomass.

4. Will you prepare a full technology for my material?

Yes. After testing, our engineers prepare a complete production technology, including recommended die type, roller configuration, conditioning requirements and production parameters.

5. Why is an industrial test sometimes necessary?

Industrial tests allow us to verify long-term stability, evaluate different dies and rollers, and test the material under full-scale production conditions.

6. Are special dies or rollers always required?

No. Standard dies often work well for feed and wood biomass. However, materials like RDF, fibrous straw or abrasive residues may require custom-designed dies and rollers.

7. Is the 800 PLN test fee refundable?

Yes. The fee is refunded when you purchase a pellet mill or pelleting line from Nawrocki Technologies.

8. How long does the pelleting test take?

Laboratory tests usually take a few working days. Industrial tests depend on the material and scope, and are scheduled individually.

9. Can you help select the right pellet mill for my product?

Absolutely. Based on test results, we recommend the optimal pellet mill model, die parameters, roller type and technological configuration.
